
Stephen Dasko proudly serves as City Councillor for Ward 1 and Regional Councillor for the Region of Peel. First elected in 2018 and re-elected for the 2022–2026 term, Stephen is a lifelong resident and passionate advocate for his community.
Born and raised in Ward 1, Stephen attended Mineola Public School and Port Credit High School. His deep roots in the community include playing hockey at Port Credit Arena and volunteering with local organizations. Today, he remains an active member of the Army Navy Air Force Veterans Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Lion’s Club.
Stephen graduated with an Honours degree in Political Science from Carleton University, where he also served as a researcher on Parliament Hill. His professional career spans leadership roles in both the private and public sectors, including serving as Chief of Staff to a Member of Provincial Parliament and as Chief Operating Officer for a technology firm specializing in transportation and database management. He also has experience in the investment industry and has contributed to legislative initiatives such as the First Responders Act, which established May 1st as First Responders Day across Ontario.
As Councillor, Stephen serves on several community organizations as a board member and a number of committees at both the City of Mississauga and the Region of Peel, where he works collaboratively to shape policy, advance infrastructure, and strengthen community services.
Councillor Dasko is deeply committed to enhancing quality of life through initiatives that promote Arts and Culture in Mississauga, the creation of outdoor spaces such as the Skating Trail in Port Credit’s Memorial Park, and the development of new waterfront parkland and support for the creation of the new Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area. Stephen actively works with community groups to bring events to Ward 1 and supports numerous initiatives that showcase and empower local musicians and artists, helping to create a thriving cultural scene.
Stephen has witnessed decades of change in Ward 1 and remains committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community. He and his wife Maria, along with their two Shih-Tzus, Skipper and Ginger, are proud to call Ward 1 home.
