Project Overview
The City of Mississauga (“City”) is planning to remove numerous trees within the Cooksville Creek corridor, south of Lakeshore Road East, beginning in January 2026. The tree removals are necessary to facilitate upcoming construction activities later in 2026, including:
• restoration of the creek banks to address ongoing erosion issues;
• replacement of the Helen Molasy Trail and berm along the eastern creek bank; and
• replacement of clogged catch basins and drain pipes that aid in draining the backyards behind the creek.
Background information for the project can be found on the City’s Class Environmental Assessment website:

All of the planned tree removals are located within public lands along the creek and trail corridor. No trees located on private lands are planned for removal at this time. At the conclusion of the project, hundreds of new trees and shrubs will be planted within the corridor.
