Join us for an important community conversation that celebrates the resilience and activism of the Black community in Mississauga.

This event will feature leaders who have significantly shaped the City’s history and are contributing to its future, sharing personal stories from the Black activist movement that gained momentum in the 1980s and 1990s.

The event will reflect on the untimely death of Michael Wade Lawson in 1988, a pivotal moment that catalyzed activism among Black youth in Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area. Guest speakers will also discuss the current needs and aspirations of Black youth as the City celebrates its 50th anniversary.
