Celebrate Winter IN the Port with us and join Port Credit BIA’s Virtual Lighting of the Lighthouse this year!

By December 21, 2020December 31st, 2020Events

A local family-friendly celebration and well-loved Port Credit tradition. The premier took place this past weekend on Saturday, December 19, 2020 across all Port Credit BIA Social Media Channels. Lighting of the Lighthouse is a community event celebrated in Port Credit by our iconic Lighthouse and Queen Bea’s Landing. Every year we feature free hot chocolate, refreshments, delicious treats and entertainment by local students and together we celebration the Holiday Season!

“For a number of years, we have enjoyed the lighting of the Lighthouse in Port Credit. It is a unique and cherished tradition in the community. Although we can’t gather in person this year to light the lighthouse, we can do it virtually to ensure the tradition continues. Wishing you and your families a very Merry Christmas.” Ward 1 Councillor, Stephen Dasko

“Now more than ever we need some brightness to bring some life to Port Credit during these difficult times. This year we have invested in street lighting for 56 trees along the strip and enhanced lighting around the Lighthouse. With the generosity from Brightwater and the PCCF the lighting in Port Credit has never looked better. Enjoy the Lighting of the Lighthouse and we all look forward to being able to gather together in person as a community in 2021.” Jake Pedler, Chair of the Port Credit BIA.

“Port Credit is recognized as a tourist destination and the century-old Lighthouse at the mouth of the Credit River is a Port Credit icon; a visual centrepiece of the community. The Port Credit Lighthouse features an array of LED lighting throughout the year to celebrate historical events, local festivals and events, and milestones; a true endeavour to add some fun and colour to the Port Credit community.”

– Secretary of the Port Credit Community Foundation, Karen Priest.

This celebratory project wouldn’t have been possible without the help of sponsors: Birnie Electric, Brightwater, City of Mississauga, and Port Credit BIA and Port Credit Community Foundation. To watch the virtual Lighting of the Lighthouse, visit PortCredit.com.
