Upcoming Filming at Lakefront Promenade Park

The Netflix series “Locke & Key” (Matheson 2 Productions Inc) will be filming at Lakefront Promenade Park, South Pavilion/Picnic Area B this Friday June 18 from 4:00pm to Saturday June 19 at 2:00am.

The Film Office, with close consultation with the Parks Division, has been working with production to adjust their footprint to be the smallest as possible due to the especially high demand for lakefront parks and amenities during this time.

Public health units, private organizations, collaborate in the fight against COVID-19 variants in Peel region by setting a vaccination record

June 12, 2021 – Today, a team of clinical staff from the Grey Bruce Health Unit attended the Hockey Hub mass vaccination centre at the CAA Centre in Brampton to support in the fight against the Delta variant that is spreading in the region. Through collaboration among Peel Public Health and Grey Bruce Health Unit, the site is on track to set a daily record for an 8-hour shift of 6,300 vaccinations.

Bruce Power and a coalition of organizations, unions and businesses came together to establish the hub in collaboration with the Region of Peel to provide the region greater capacity to deliver more vaccines in the race against the COVID-19 variants. Road Closure – Various streets

There will be a rolling closure of various roadways in order to complete the installation of sanitary sewer. Below is the list of all the roadways that will be closed consecutively and will include the duration starting from June 21st, 2021. Please be advised that local traffic will be maintained and all the accesses with direct frontage to the impacted street will have a full access maintained.

  1. Front St – Lakeshore to South of Port – 3 week duration – June 21st – July 9th
  2. Port Street – Front St to John St – 2 week duration – July 12th – July 23rd
  3. Port Street – John St to Peter St – 2 week duration –  July 26th – August 7th
  4. Port Street – Peter St to Fire Station – 1 week duration – August 9th – August 14th
  5. Port Street – Fire Station to Mississauga Road –  1 week duration – August 16th – August 21st
  6. Mississauga Road & Port Street Intersection – 2 week duration – August 23rd – August 4th

Mississauga Introduces Electric Grass Cutting Tools Pilot to Trim Carbon Emissions

The City of Mississauga has launched their Green Tools pilot project which introduces all-electric, battery-powered grass cutting equipment to Parks staff who maintain the parks. Over the next few years, the City will be transitioning grass-cutting equipment to all-electric, battery-powered equipment upon their lifecycle replacements.

The transition to all-electric, battery-powered equipment will reduce carbon emissions, limit noise and increase safety for Parks staff. The new equipment includes two riding zero-turn mowers, a push mower, leaf blowers and trimmers. The project aligns with the City’s Climate Change Action Plan’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent by 2050, with the long-term goal of becoming a net-zero community.

Residential Rat Control Subsidy Pilot Program now available

The Region of Peel’s Residential Rat Control Subsidy Pilot Program will be available from March 22, 2021 to March 31, 2022 for Peel residents. The pilot program was launched to help qualifying residents that are experiencing rat infestations on the exterior of their property. Residential property owners may be eligible for a 50 per cent subsidy of the cost in hiring a Region of Peel approved pest control vendor, up to a maximum of $200 per calendar year, per residential Peel address.

The pilot program is available from March 22, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Read More
