Please be aware of the process to make a claim, if you have an enquiry regarding an unfortunate incident in which you sustained damage/injury.

Please be assured that all claims, whether they be injury or damage to property, are thoroughly investigated by the Insurance & Risk Management Section of Legal Services.  Consideration for making any payment by the City must be based on legal liability arising out of negligence.

MiWay announces service increases to meet growing demand

MiWay is enhancing its services to better meet the demands of public transit users in Mississauga.

August 14, 2024

Starting on Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, MiWay is introducing service changes to improve the customer service delivery:

  • A new Burnhamthorpe Express Route 126 between the University of Toronto Mississauga and the Kipling Bus Terminal in Toronto.
  • Service improvements on Routes 44 and 110 to better serve the University of Toronto Mississauga campus.
  • More buses on busy routes to alleviate overcrowding.

New Route 126 Burnhamthorpe Express

Starting in September, the Route 126 Burnhamthorpe Express will offer express transit services on weekdays, connecting the University of Toronto Mississauga with the Kipling Bus Terminal in Toronto. It’s scheduled to operate every 17 minutes at peak times in the morning and afternoon, complementing the existing Route 26 Burnhamthorpe service with improved weekday and weekend service frequencies. With the introduction of the new 126 Burnhamthorpe Express, Route 76 Burnhamthorpe will be cancelled to prevent service duplication.

Improved service to the University of Toronto Mississauga

To give students more travel options to and from the UTM campus MiWay is launching a new express route and increasing the service frequency on Route 44 Mississauga Road and Route 110 University Express. These service frequency improvements will help meet the increased customer demand during the school year.

More buses on busy routes to alleviate overcrowding

With increased ridership demand and the availability of additional service hours that were approved by City Council at the beginning of the year, the routes below will have increased service:

  • 5 Dixie (weekdays)
  • 26 Burnhamthorpe (daily)
  • 35 Eglinton (daily)
  • 42 Derry (weekends)
  • 43 Matheson (weekdays)
  • 44 Mississauga Road (weekdays)
  • 110 University Express (weekdays)

Upcoming GO Service Changes

Metrolinx advises of upcoming GO service changes that will impact the community on the Lakeshore West line.

Metrolinx conducts comprehensive reviews and adjustments to GO Transit schedules throughout the year. This is done to ensure that services align with customer needs and resources are allocated to where they are most needed. Starting Saturday, August 31, we’re expanding and adjusting GO bus service across the network to better meet customer needs, including new express route options, additional trips, and more service to post-secondary institutions.

Service to post-secondary institutions returns and we’re bringing your community even more options for back to school, including new routes and express options.

  • More trips on routes 15, 25, 29, 30, 31, 41, 47, 56 and 88.
  • New express options available on routes 25, 30 and 41:
  • New route 25A (Waterloo / Mississauga Express via Milton Carpool Lot at Regional Rd. 25 @ Hwy.    401)
  • New route 30E (Waterloo / Bramalea Express, by-passing Kitchener GO)
  • New route 41B (McMaster / Centennial College E

We’re also adding more bus trips on some routes during busy periods to your community with more options when they need them most. More trips on the following routes:

  • Route 27B – Meadowvale / North York: introducing more trips Monday through Thursday.

We’re also adjusting schedules to better reflect actual travel times and to improve connections, with some trips departing up to 25 minutes earlier or later.

  • On Route 52, all weekend eastbound trips will depart 25 minutes earlier.
  • Changes on most routes across the network of up to 10 minutes earlier or later.
  • Please be sure to check your schedules before you travel.

Bus platform changes Hwy 407 Bus Terminal

  • Eastbound route 56 moving from Platform 17 to Platform 16
  • Eastbound routes 41 and 41B (all stops) moving from Platform 18 to Platform 17
  • Eastbound routes 41A and 41C and 41D (bypasses Richmond Hill Centre and Scarborough Centre) will be on Platform 18

A reminder that service to Canada’s Wonderland and Toronto Zoo will end for the season. The last day of service will be August 25.

Please check schedules in advance to plan trips ahead of time.

The Peel Region Public Works department regularly maintains and repairs the water system to make sure you have a consistent supply of quality drinking water. Sometimes we must turn off your water supply while we do this work.

Your water will be turned off on Friday August 23rd, 2024, between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. If we need to reschedule this work due to weather or other circumstances, we will let you know the new date and time.

Property owner/manager responsibilities during a water interruption
As a property owner/manager, it is your responsibility to:
• Ensure maintenance, mechanical or plumbing staff are on site during the water interruption, as it may affect internal systems that rely on water such as boilers, fire suppression, and alarms.
• Notify the fire alarm company if the interruption could affect an alarm system.
• Have a fire watch completed during the water interruption, as the building’s sprinkler protection system will not function when the water supply is shut off.

After the water interruption
When we turn the water back on, air in the pipes may make the water cloudy and your plumbing may vibrate or make noise. We recommend removing the air by slowly turning on your taps from the lowest to the highest faucet in the building (that is, starting in the basement/first floor, and finishing on the top floor). You will likely need to run the water for 10 to 30 seconds. Run the water until it is clear, and any vibration or noise has stopped.

Important note
After the water is turned back on, we recommend checking the water meter (usually located in the basement). If it is leaking, call Water Meter Installations Dispatch at:

Apply for the Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing Program Now

Do you or someone you know have trouble clearing the snow at the end of the driveway?

August 12, 2024

Although you’re feeling the heat, the snowy season is right around the corner, Mississauga. Despite last winter’s milder weather, winter in Mississauga usually brings heavy snowfall and significant storms. Preparing for this unpredictable season is important. Registration for the City of Mississauga’s Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing Program is now open until Friday, November 1 for those who need help clearing their windrow. The program supports Mississauga residents who are 65 years old and older and persons with physical disabilities.A windrow is a pile of snow that can be left at the end of a driveway after a street has been plowed. Within 36 hours after the end of a snow storm, registered participants will get a three-metre space cleared in their driveway windrow so that a car can get in and out safely.The program runs from Friday, November 22, 2024, to Monday, March 24, 2025, and is available to 750 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $200 (non-refundable) for the season or free for those who meet financial assistance criteria.

Submit an application online or in person at any of the City’s community centres, the Mississauga Seniors’ Centre or the Paramount Fine Foods Centre Sportsplex.

Those interested in the program are encouraged to register as early as possible to secure their spot. By applying early, the City will be able to process the application and complete the necessary driveway inspection so that staff are ready to clear the windrow as soon as snow arrives.
