The City of Mississauga’s Parks Operations team has implemented the City’s first all-Electric Turf Crew as part of a pilot project. This transition to all-electric equipment will reduce carbon emissions, limit noise, increase safety for employees and aligns with the City’s Climate Change Action Plan. The Operations Team has received great feedback from staff throughout the pilot project and continue to plan for further electrification of our fleet and equipment.
Mississauga is leading the industry in the development of a fully electric grass crew unit. An enclosed trailer was customized to house and allow for all necessary turf equipment in the trailer to be charged from one wall-mounted electrical receptacle.
