January 20, 2021 — At today’s City of Mississauga Council meeting, Councillor Stephen Dasko, Ward 1, put forward a motion for Council’s consideration to suspend the surcharge for funeral homes for weekend and statutory holidays during the COVID pandemic. Councillor Dasko was pleased that this was passed unanimously at Council. “In these challenging times, this is the least we can do, under our jurisdiction, to help businesses and our community as compassionately as possible” said Councillor Dasko.
WHEREAS during the COVID pandemic, the Clerk’s office has been issuing burial permits on weekends and statutory holidays;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a bylaw be enacted suspending the $25 weekend and statutory holiday surcharge until the COVID pandemic has passed.
