You’re invited to share your feedback on policies that will help guide the future redevelopment for the Dixie Outlet Mall site.
City staff have refined the draft policies and are seeking comments on the revised Official Plan Amendment. The policies address elements that are needed to create a mixed-use community: parks and natural spaces, transit and transportation options, community infrastructure, housing options, the height and density of new buildings and the amount of retail and commercial space.

Emancipation Day is recognized annually on August 1. It is a time to reflect on the history of slavery, honour the courage of those who fought for freedom and engage in the ongoing fight against anti-Black racism and discrimination.

This year marks the 190th anniversary of Emancipation Day, which commemorates the abolition of slavery in the British Empire.
The community is invited to participate in honouring this important day by:
- Attending the Pan-African flag raising (see details below).
- Booking a guided museum tour focused on Black History in Ontario at Bradley Museum or Benares Historic House.
- Learning about the contributions and achievements of Black individuals in Canada by checking out the library’s curated reading list.
- Staying informed about the City’s ongoing commitment and actions to address systemic racism and racism including the Anti-Black and Indigenous Resolution 207 and the City’s first Black Community Engagement (BCE) Report.

The team at the Small Arms Inspection Building is committed to providing a quality customer service experience and has made some adjustments based on feedback from users. A new schedule will be implemented in the fall when the facility re-opens.
The implementation of a consistent schedule for public hours to enhance and stimulate regular activity, fosters a more vibrant space that actively supports a reliable schedule for community arts with the proposed schedule below.
To accommodate requests by community groups, Friday through Sunday will be exclusively reserved for event rentals. For example, from October to January, the building will be booked on weekends for a diverse range of events.
After 6pm on weekday evenings, the space will be animated by a mix of City programs and smaller community group rentals. We will be implementing new rental fees for smaller meeting requests where space is available at a significantly reduced cost when they are only using a small portion of the space (ie, a small community group meeting, consistent with our Heritage Hall rental rate).

Pre-construction for the SAIB reroofing and associated siteworks is underway including, material orders/fabrication and site mobilization.
Over the next few months site activities will include:
- Site hoarding at rear parking area;
- Minor grading at the West lawn to create a temporary swale;
- Interior roof drain installation; and,
- Re-roofing work.
The building will remain closed to the public during the construction activities for health and safety reasons and will re-open in October.
The drive aisle and east parking lot will remain open during construction activities for public use.
Exterior hose bids for the community garden will also remain in use during construction.
