Dear Resident,

Re: Community Virtual Meeting

170 Lakeshore Road East

The City of Mississauga has received an application from Lightpoint Inc. to redevelop their existing plaza at the northwest corner of Lakeshore Road East and Elmwood Avenue North with a 15 storey apartment building containing 149 residential units and ground floor commercial space.

In order to implement their plans, the applicant is proposing to amend the Official Plan and rezone the property. I am hosting this community virtual meeting to provide residents with more information and to have a transparent discussion on the proposed development.

Due to the COVID pandemic, we are not able to have an in-person meeting. Therefore, we have arranged a Community Virtual Meeting on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you wish to attend and participate in the discussions, please find the call in details below:

No winter garbage exemption period in Peel due to rising COVID-19 cases

By Issues, Resources, Ward 1

January 5, 2022

Peel Region advises residents that the winter garbage exemption period (originally scheduled from January 24 to February 4) is suspended.  This is being done in response to the record-rising COVID-19 cases, and to ensure the health and safety of essential front-line staff while maintaining Regional services for the long term.

Residents are reminded that:

  • Garbage tags must be used to dispose of excess garbage bags.
  • Untagged garbage will not be collected.
  • Bulky item collection will continue every garbage pick up day.

Residents can visit peelregion.ca/waste to order garbage tags if required.  Residents can also order garbage tags by phone by calling 905-791-9499 or 905-584-2216 for Caledon residents.

Residents can also take their excess garbage and bulky items to any Peel Community Recycling Centre (CRC), where disposal fees will apply. Check peelregion.ca/waste for locations and hours of operation. Please note that the CRCs only accept credit/debit payment. Cash payments are not accepted.

The Region of Peel works with residents and partners to create a healthy, safe and connected Community for Life for approximately 1.5 million people and over 175,000 businesses in the cities of Brampton and Mississauga and the Town of Caledon. Peel’s services touch the lives of residents every day. For more information about the Region of Peel, explore peelregion.ca and follow us on Twitter @regionofpeel and Instagram @peelregion.ca.
