By Events, Hurontario LRT, Issues, Resources, Ward 1

A Notice from Metrolinx:

Dear resident,

Construction of the Hurontario Light Rail Transit (LRT) project is ramping up along Hurontario Street, so we wanted to take this opportunity to (re)introduce ourselves in advance of some work beginning in your community. Starting in April, you will begin to see construction crews mobilize on site at the end of Troy Street, between CN Railway and the Petro-Canada. You will see site trailers and offices, material storage and onsite parking. Work will begin with tree protection and installation of a fence to secure the area. If any trees need to be removed, they will be replaced according to City of Mississauga bylaws. Read More

April is tax season. Mississauga Library, in partnership with the Canada Revenue Agency, is here to ease some of the uncertainty caused by tax season with free online tax workshops. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic raises additional questions surrounding taxes, including how to file if you received COVID-19 emergency benefits, such as the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), or how to claim home office expenses. COUNCILLOR DASKO’S MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY

By Issues, Resources, Ward 1

March 26, 2021 — At yesterday’s Region of Peel Council meeting, Councillor Stephen Dasko, put forward a motion for Council’s consideration that residents be permitted two additional bags of waste to be collected as part of the bi-weekly residential waste collection, without the requirement of purchasing bag tags. This will take effect during the eight week period from May 3 until June 25, 2021. Councillor Dasko was pleased that this was passed unanimously at Regional Council.

“Last year we witnessed an increase in spring cleaning due to the first COVID lockdown. This spring having a plan in place is crucial to allow residents to safely and easily dispose of their waste” said Councillor Dasko.
