MiWay Seasonal Service Changes – Holiday Schedule

Seasonal service changes will be implemented from Monday, Dec. 25, 2023 to Jan. 7, 2024. Customers can ride free on New Year’s Eve from 7 pm on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023 to 4 am on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024.

Based on customer demand, some routes will have less frequent service during the day and some routes will not operate during this two-week period. The changes are summarized in the table below and more details will be available at miway.ca.

Extended late night service on New Year’s Eve until 2 am will be available on the following routes: 1 Dundas, 2 Hurontario, 3 Bloor, 5 Dixie, 7 Airport, 10 Bristol-Britannia, 11 Westwood, 13 Glen Erin, 17 Hurontario, 23 Lakeshore, 26 Burnhamthorpe, 61 Mavis and 66 McLaughlin.

The Region of Peel Public Works department regularly maintains and repairs the water system to make sure you have a consistent supply of quality drinking water. Sometimes we must turn off your water supply while we do this work.

Your water will be turned off on Thursday, December 7th, from approximately 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If we need to reschedule this work due to weather or other circumstances, we will let you know the new date and time.

If this interruption may affect an alarm or maintenance company, it is your responsibility to notify them.  During the time that the water supply is interrupted, the building’s sprinkler protection system will not function.  A fire watch should be performed as necessary during time period.

After the water interruption:

When we turn the water back on, air in the pipes may make the water cloudy and your plumbing may vibrate or make noise.  We recommend removing the air by slowly turning on your taps from the lowest to the highest faucet in the building (that is, starting in the basement/first floor and finishing on the top floor). Flush the toilets as well. You will likely need to run the water for 10 to 30 seconds.  Run the water until it is clear, and any vibration or noise has stopped.

Important note:  After the water is turned back on, we recommend checking your water meter (usually located in the basement).  If it is leaking, call Water Meter Installations Dispatch at:

  • (905) 791 – 7800 Ext. 4409 (After hours or Statutory Holidays)

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE SOUTH SERVICE ROAD BETWEEN DIXIE ROAD AND CAWTHRA ROAD OGDEN PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

As part of the Queen Elizabeth Way improvement from east of Cawthra Road to West of Etobicoke Creek, the contractor will be replacing Ogden pedestrian bridge over South Service Road which will require the closure.

  • MiWay will be detouring their transit services.

This work is planned to occur between 10 pm on Saturday December 2nd  and 9 am on Sunday December 3rd.

During the closure, Emergency Services (Fire, Police & Ambulance) will NOT be maintained.   

Variable Message Signs have been installed in advance of the closure and MTO has advertised the planned QEW closure.

South Service Road between Cawthra Road and Dixie Road – Temporary Road Closure

  • Starting Saturday, December 2nd 10 pm until Sunday, December 3rd at 9:00 am.
