10 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Monday, August 9th to Friday, August 13th, 2021

What work is taking place? To accommodate construction of the Hurontario Light Rail Transit Project, watermain and sewer infrastructure installation works are underway on Hurontario Street between Park Street and Mineola Road.

July 21, 2021

Fishing, anyone? Tourism Mississauga invites avid fishers or those new to the sport to check out one of the fishing charters available in Mississauga and receive a $100 prepaid VISA gift card through the Reel in a Deal promotion.

“As things start to open up, fishing is a fun and safe way to enjoy a beautiful summer day on the lake,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “Mississauga has two local ports and harbouring marinas where you can launch your boat or book a charter, and the fishing is world class. Our lakefront area has so many options for people to enjoy when they are back on land again! Let’s support our local businesses this summer.”

Residents or visitors can participate in the Reel in a Deal promotion by booking a charter with a local participating SafeTravels Stamp-approved charter company and receive a $100 prepaid VISA gift card, courtesy of Tourism Mississauga, to spend while they are in Mississauga. The promotion runs until August 28, 2021.

“We are excited to welcome residents and visitors back to explore Mississauga in a safe way,” said Toni Frankfurter, Chair, Tourism Mississauga.  “Our Reel in a Deal promotion allows people to enjoy some time outdoors and then use their gift card to support some of our local Mississauga Made businesses, restaurants and unique shops. Book your charter now!”

Tourism Mississauga is also a proud sponsor of the Silver Salmon Challenge, Lake Ontario’s largest salmon fishing event which features a grand prize of $100,000. The Silver Salmon Challenge is a tournament on Lake Ontario which runs for 10 weeks from June 18 to August 28, 2021.

“We are working to offer residents and visitors options for safe activities this summer, while recognizing that we are not through this pandemic yet,” said Victoria Clarke, Director of Tourism and Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Mississauga.  “Fishing is a great option to consider. People may not know that Lake Ontario is home to a great variety of fish and boasts a significant stock of salmon and trout. Last year’s Silver Salmon Challenge top fish weighed in at a whopping 35 pounds! We invite residents and visitors to come out and enjoy our beautiful lake and surrounding businesses, and support local this summer.”
