Metrolinx launched its virtual fall engagement for the Hurontario LRT today, providing an update on the project. It will run until November 26. You can view the materials at your leisure.
Since the project’s last virtual engagement in the spring, construction continues to progress and there is active construction in all work zones of Mississauga. Activity will continue to pick up and we should see some significant milestones in 2022, including the completion of the Operations, Maintenance and Storage Facility just south of Highway 407 and tracks being installed. The project is on track to be in service by fall 2024.
The virtual engagement will also offer residents and businesses the opportunity to submit their questions through the Metrolinx Engage platform.
There is a scheduled sinkhole repair work taking place this coming November 19 – 22, 2021 near Mississauga Road. Service disruptions for GO Train operations are expected, as well as some community impacts for residents of Kane Road and Wesley Avenue and surrounding areas.
To accommodate machinery for the repairs, there will be road closures allowing local traffic only to Wesley Avenue and Kane Road from Mississauga Road. Residents in this area may experience noise associated with the repairs; work is expected to be continuous from November 19 at 10pm through November 22 at 7am and will include overnight work.
GO Train Service will be disrupted beginning at 22:00 on Friday November 19 until the end of service day Sunday November 21, 2021.
All rail trips will short turn at Oakville during this time. Bus replacements will transport customers between Oakville GO and Union Bus Terminal, making stops at Clarkson and Port Credit GO. There will be no bus or train service at Long Branch, Mimico and Exhibition GO Stations while this track work takes place. If you need to get to Long Branch, Mimico and Exhibition GO Stations during this time, MiWay and TTC connections are available.
