Building on the recently completed Lakeshore Connecting Communities Master Plan, the City of Mississauga is moving forward with environmental assessments for the Lakeshore Corridor.
This next phase of work will include three (3) infrastructure projects.
LAKESHORE BUS RAPID TRANSIT (BRT) STUDY*
Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) and Preliminary Design under Ontario Regulation 231/08.
The study will assess the potential environmental effects associated with dedicated centre-running bus rapid transit (BRT) lanes for a 2 km section of Lakeshore Road from the Etobicoke Creek to East Avenue.
*This document does not serve as the TPAP Notice of Commencement for the Lakeshore BRT Study and is only a pre-TPAP notification of Virtual Public Open House #1. The TPAP Notice of Commencement will be issued later this year.
LAKESHORE COMPLETE STREET STUDY
Schedule C Class EA Study and Preliminary Design under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015).
The study will evaluate options to improve the experience for people travelling along Lakeshore Road and Royal Windsor Drive from East Avenue to the Oakville Border.
NEW CREDIT RIVER ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION (AT) BRIDGE STUDY
Schedule B Class EA Study and Preliminary Design under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015).
The study will evaluate options for an active transportation (walking, rolling and cycling) bridge over the Credit River north of Lakeshore Road.
Anyone with an interest in any of the three projects can get involved and provide input. All open houses are planned to take place virtually at this time but may be changed to in-person as Ontario’s public health and safety guidelines allow.
