This week on Ask A Historian, Matthew Wilkinson welcomes back Richard Collins, Past President, Mississauga South Historical Society, Interpreter, and local Historian, as they explore Port Credit’s marine heritage.
Richard and Matthew delve into the key historic figures who had dreams for the future of Port Credit, both realized and lost, as well as the vision for industrializing Port Credit, the iconic Port Credit Lighthouse, the Stonehookers who once worked the shores of Lake Ontario, and the evolution of the harbour.
Don’t miss this fascinating episode!
We encourage our followers to visit our collection of interpretive plaques located in J.J. Plaus Park near Lakeshore and Port Street in Port Credit to follow the history of trade, industry, and life along the Credit River.
